Each $16 payment is for one official Light Rail Relay baton, which you'll receive at your starting station before the event. Every team is required to have a baton to participate in the relay. If you have a baton from a previous year, you do not need to purchase a new one. Bring it and run with it again!
Teams running a single line need one baton. Teams running Interline need two: the 1 Line and 2 Line branches start in different places and run at the same time before converging at International District/Chinatown, so each branch carries its own baton.
Batons you already own count toward that total. An Interline team bringing a baton from a previous year buys just one more ($16); an Interline team starting fresh buys two ($32).
To pay for your batons, please send $16 per baton to yoo-james on Venmo. Please include "LRR" and your team name in the payment description. Contact us if you prefer an alternate payment method.
Once your payment is processed, your team captain will be notified and your team's registration will be approved.
Payments are refundable until midnight September 19th, 2026. Contact us for a refund. Beyond this point, consider inviting someone else to be captain of the team to use your baton if you can't participate. There are no refunds if you fail to pick up your baton by the scheduled start of the event.
If the event is cancelled or rescheduled, all teams may request a refund or make an alternate arrangement to receive their baton.
